Myself, Superman and Lois #cw #superman
I didn’t have high hopes for The CW’s latest show, Superman and Lois. In fact, I had zero hope at all.
Hey everyone,
I know it’s been a while since we have posted any content on the web. Sorry, it’s been hectic and truthfully, I was just tired of the ‘tech’ world. (Meaning media, computers, etc.)
This pandemic has pushed me away from technology, while at the same time, shoving it in my face for work and other things. Lots of good things for sure, but I just wanted a break. I have tech in front of me 24/7, no matter where I go. So, I’m ready to start getting back into blogging at the very least. I think I’m going to start doing some vlogs soon too, now that I am set up in a better position to do so. (Got the cam, the mic, location, topics..) I don’t know who will watch, but who cares!?
So… Superman and Lois. Let me start by saying that I have been experiencing fatigue with the CW. The Flash, Legends.. I’m behind on a bit because I was just tired of the “drama” aspect. Every show seemed to just be a social justice platform. I’m not arguing right/wrong for what that platform was preaching, just that I was tired of not seeing a good story and always knowing it was a show to push some agenda. It hurt my head! I was expecting the same from Superman and Lois.. so it took a few days until I watched it.
I wish I hadn’t waited..
It was great. I understood this show would be a new take on things, and I welcomed that aspect. I didn’t need to see another remake of Superman’s origins. But I was concerned with how they would do this. Would it be another “Smallville”? Or even worse, a disaster like Supergirl? (Don’t get me started on that show…)
If you haven’t watched Superman and Lois yet, be warned of ‘some’ spoilers. I am not going over the episodes, etc. But I will talk about a few things that might surprise you if you are wanting to watch it from the beginning.
I loved the fact that we are jumping to the time Superman and and Lois are married. I love the fact that the show starts off with them having kids and the kids not knowing their father is superman.
I love the fact that they setup multiple future episodes discussing powers for his boys. I love the fact that we get a glimpse of his nemesis immediately, and even in that, they introduce the other worlds/timelines/earths, etc. I love the fact that Superman is extremely strong like he SHOULD be.
I love the way they show his nerdy side and have it reflect strongly in homage to the original Superman movies. I adore that they involved his hometown, that they introduce new love stories, Lana Lang,
The Daily Planet
and family relationships. How does he get along with Lois? How does he survive as a Father AND Superman?
They constantly mix in a ‘retro’ small town feel, and honestly? It is refreshing. I got lost in the wholesomeness of it, and I won’t complain about that at all.
okay, I’m done now. I was going to write about a few things I didn’t like, but I am not sure what those are yet. I will probably find a few things once I watch the episodes over again and as the season moves on. I sincerely hope they don’t turn this show into any type of platform for .. .well, anything. Please, just let it be entertainment for a little bit longer!
